Hair Program Options - Tricks That Every Hairstylist Should Know

Hair Program

A varied hair program is key to success for hair styling specialists. To remain competitive in the field of hairstyling, a stylist should be able to give clients tips on how to properly care for their hair, know what hair color would suit them and what cut and hairstyles would bring out the best of their features.

Some of the basic hair program options that a hairstylist should be able to offer are discussed below.

Managing big hair

Big hair is good if it's a personal choice. However, for those who are tired of having to go sideways through the door because their hair wouldn't fit, there is a simple way to tame those electric strands and make them lie straight and long behind your back. Two common options are hair relaxing and hair rebonding.

Basically, these two involve ironing out the hair lock by lock or by batch to straighten it out. Relaxing is good for clients whose hair is not curly but still seems to be everywhere. Rebonding, on the other hand, is the more complicated and more expensive option usually offered to thick, hard-to-manage hair. These services are available in most hair styling salons. However, if you don't want to spend much, taming big hair using a straightening iron can be done at home, but the result will not last as long as the results provided by relaxing and rebonding services.

Finer options for fine hair

If hair is too fine and a client prefers to give it more body or is just plain tired of the lank, boring style, then she can have it permed or layered to give it more dimension. Perming will definitely give fine hair more volume. However, not all people prefer this look and for those who do not, and then layering will help. A layered cut is basically a hairstyle wherein the bottom part of the hair is snipped off in a non-straight manner (usually using special scissors that have teeth) to create varied length layers. This gives fine hair body and more volume and actually looks very chic.

Hair color

As we grow older, we tend to suffer from hair color loss. If a client is not yet ready to show his or her gray and white hairs, then hair coloring services are something that a hair expert can offer. It can be done by simply applying hair coloring chemicals to the client's hair or giving her a cellophane. Basic hair color services are cheaper, but color retention is shorter compared to that of cellophane. More than providing color, cellophane coats the hair with a protective sheen that allows it to retain the artificial color for a longer period of time.

A hairstylist's hair program should have a bit of everything for everybody. Learning how to address the various concerns of people with different types of hair should be a skill that every serious hairstylist should have.
